I kinda wish this was a joke, but ... the trailer for Oliver Stone's "W"

Before I go any further, let me just state for the record that I used to like Oliver Stone quite a bit, and I want to again. Earnestly. But this trailer ...

Wow ... I didn't expect Stone to make a movie that treats the W. presidency with any respect, but the hard-living Bush part (with the choice cut from Delaware's own George Thorogood .. now, really, how tough can you be when your band is actually called the Delaware Destroyers?) looks funny for a second until it just makes you cringe.

It is kinda cool to see all the fairly A-list actors in their Bush bunch garb, and Thandie Newton indeed looks on the verge of tears just as Condoleezza Rice does whenever I catch her on TV. I'm sure Josh Brolin will be great in this, but I can't see how in the world it can have any positive effect whatsoever on the coming U.S. election (it will drop on Oct. 29.) But, since I'm too lazy to do anything but post video clips for the second day in a row, enough from me. Enjoy the trailer and try not to laugh too hard. Peace out.

Wow. I now know what you were talking about. Do you know if everybody portrayed in the film is cool with the story and whatnot?

I've been trying to figure that one out, Chalupa ... I find it odd that you could that many very good actors to participate in a project with such an obvious agenda .. There wasn't much insight at all in the EW cover story as to that, but I think you're gonna find an interesting flood of it right before the movie comes out

I wonder if a bunch of Hollywooders could have made a similar movie about the Clintons?

You know, I have absolutely no respect for Oliver Stone. "JFK" was a three-hour ego trip, not to mention historical revisionism at its worst. I actually kind of liked "Nixon," but even that film played fast and loose with history, and even, in fact, made up both a character and several scenes. I realize all historical dramas do this to some degree, but Stone is shameless.

"W" looks like one big joke. Stone should have done the world a favor and stopped after "Platoon."

Well, I guess you could argue they sort of did this with "Primary Colors," Mr. Lizard, but that was nothing but a valentine of course ... A Hollywood film that showed all of Clinton's warts? I can't see that EVER happening

And I can see where you're coming from, Jake ... I liked "Nixon" a whole lot more than I thought I would, but you're Stone has really off his game for a LONG time ... I appreciated "World Trade Center" for its earnestness, but that is certainly a flick that doesn't bear many signature Stone touches

I don't know. I always hated Venom and I am convinced even the most talented director and actor in the world couldn't make him a good character. To me, one of Spidey 3's big errors was including him at all!
