Too tired for a full review, but Iron Man rules!

I had planned to get up early, after a 10:30 p.m. "Iron Man" screening last night, to sings the movie's praises, but I have found I am just too old to get by on four or five hours of sleep anymore.

So, a full review will come tomorrow morning, but for the most part, Iron Man is smart and funny enough to kick the summer off just right. It drags a bit as Tony Stark is assembling his suit of armor, but never enough to make me even slightly bored.

Perhaps most importantly of all, unlike Peter Parker, badass Tony Stark doesn't cry! See this one as fast as you can.

Glad to hear it! Maybe this will end up being a bizarro year when the summer movies are the good ones :)

All I know for sure is they have to be better than what's come out so far this year!

That shouldn't be too difficult. Also, you'd probably have to make the drive to Atlanta but keep an eye out for a French comedy called "OSS 117." I saw it two years ago at SIFF and it was the funniest movie I saw in 2006. It's finally getting a limited U.S. release. Seattle's getting it next Friday. I think you'd enjoy the heck out of it.
As a matter of fact you can get a region 1 DVD with English subtitles from Quebec. I did! :)

Hope you stayed to the end of the credits (which were WAY too long) - there was a very nice teaser and guest appearance for those who stayed :)

Thought it was a good film although it did go a bit "Transformers" in the last act.

The last act was a bit weak, Ian, but as far as setting up the next chapter, I thought the very end was just brilliant ... But I have to confess that though I usually do stay until the end of the credits, I did not this time because it was 12:30 a.m. and I had to get some sleep!

It was a lot of fun. The fights were fine but I enjoyed the humor more. I especially liked the in-joke reference to SHIELD toward the end.

The film while not great was indeed good. It is Robert Downey Jr. in his zone and he is the one which makes this film really try to hit the spot it intends. It is a very good foundation for a sequel and hope to see more darker exploration of conscience and some more cool x science geeky factor. I just posted my review.

I'll definitely stop by to see what you had to say today, Ashok, and I do agree with you that it easily could have been a little darker, but I think they'll get to a lot of that in chapter two (and with a $100M weekend there will certainly now be one of those!)
