As a Black woman, I have a lot of problems with that film, and others. I was throughly impressed with how Eastwood, with a big assist from Iris Yamashita and Paul Haggis, was able to get inside the heads of his main protagonists and examine what it means to fight honor and country in what was at that point clearly already a lost causeReel Fanatichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09727636643227938924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17556334.post-1558095950996534922007-02-11T02:27:00.000-05:002007-02-11T02:27:00.000-05:00I just saw Letters myself yesterday and I liked it...I just saw Letters myself yesterday and I liked it quite a bit (I figured that I probably would as I'm a big of Clint Eastwood's direction). However, having seen each film only once so far, I am not prepared to say (at least not at this point) that I think it was necessarily a "better" movie than Flags (which seems to be the general consensus). It was certainly different from Flags. In a way, the two sort of complement one another. In fact, taken together, I think these movies really make one "great" film whereas indivuidually, I think they're both good in their own ways.Damian Arlynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07937513879456460221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17556334.post-22864117553732743242007-02-11T00:22:00.000-05:002007-02-11T00:22:00.000-05:00So is Flags that much worse than Iwo Jima?
