For reasons that are beyond my comprehension, it's probably just cheaper for studios to use old ideas rather than pay anyone to come up with anything new ... and as for that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory remake, I wanted to like it, but after the first 20 minutes or so, which were magical, it was just pure garbage ... and I'm convinced, Mercurie, that Van Sant just had to be on serious drugs for the entire year or so he worked on that ridiculous Psycho projectReel Fanatichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09727636643227938924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17556334.post-25289104881230248202007-10-22T09:40:00.000-04:002007-10-22T09:40:00.000-04:00I am like you. I can't discredit the good ones, I really liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but most of them just suck. Is it a problem with creativity or just laziness?

I'm kinda surprised by The Comebacks making $6 million too. However, even though I think it's trash the masses don't. I'm sure if I was a film maker I'd want to only make amazingly awesome independent films, but sometimes you gotta do something that's gonna pay the bills too. I just have a hard time using that argument for a lot of people in the film industry though.Chalupahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05584902889303382618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17556334.post-23473761984363019422007-10-22T08:29:00.000-04:002007-10-22T08:29:00.000-04:00I love "The Prisoner," Ian, so I can understand th...I love "The Prisoner," Ian, so I can understand the impulse to wanna make it again, but you're definitely right that this has to stop now!Reel Fanatichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09727636643227938924noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17556334.post-3473349785736813872007-10-22T07:05:00.000-04:002007-10-22T07:05:00.000-04:00I'm with you on all these remakes. Over at Filmstalker.co.uk there's mention of a remake of The Exorcist (Dear God, Why???!!) and this morning's subscription copy of SFX magazine tells me that there are not one but TWO remakes of The Prisoner (cult TV show from the 60s) underway.

I'd truly get depressed until I remember how many good films I've seen so far this year (mostly small, independent films, admittedly, but what the heck)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13442419547110456696noreply@blogger.com
